TMG's Target for Zero Emission Vehicles

To accelerate the widespread use of ZEV, in May 2018, Governor of Tokyo announced that TMG aims to increase the sales of ZEV up to 50 percent of the total sales of passenger cars.

Background

In 2006, Tokyo Metropolitan Government set a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 30 percent by 2030 compared to 2000 levels, which means 60 percent reductions of CO2 emissions from transportation sector is required. The adoption of Zero Emission Vehicles(ZEV) provides means to reduce pollutants including CO2 and plays a significant role to meet this target. To accelerate the widespread use of ZEV, in May 2018, Governor of Tokyo announced that TMG aims to increase the sales of ZEV up to 50 percent of the total sales of passenger cars. Zero emission vehicles include battery electric vehicle, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, and fuel-cel electric vehicle.
