In Tokyo, about half of the land is urban areas, including commercial and residential districts, while natural areas and greenery have shrunk markedly. TMG is making efforts to preserve greenery, regulate development, and promote greening of urban areas based on the Tokyo Metropolitan Nature Conservation Ordinance.
In addition, to maintain a healthy ecosystem and biodiversity, TMG is establishing systems to protect natural habitats of wildlife and to support an ideal relationship between humans and nature in urban areas, mountain districts and islands.
