References / Principal Environmental Standards
Appropriate standards for human health protection and preservation of the living environment have been adopted for air, water, soil, and noise pollution. They indicate the regulatory objectives for promoting pollution countermeasures, based on the Basic Environment Law and Law Concerning Special Measures against Dioxins.

(Notes)
1. “pg” is abbreviation of picogram, or one trillionth of a gram.
2. TEQ is a dioxin toxic equivalent, calculated by looking at all toxic dioxins and measuring them in terms of the most toxic form of dioxin, 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin.
