  The Okutama Visitor Center was jointly established by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Okutama Natural Park Management Center and the Ministy of the Environment's Okutama Ranger Office.

The Okutama Visitor Center can provide all the information you need about Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, especially information about the hiking trails and emergency shelters on Mt. Kumotori and the surrounding mountains. If you plan to go hiking or mountain climbing, please visit us before you set off.
The Okutama Visitor Center offers events such as nature classes taught by guides and volunteers, as well as lectures given by volunteers. These events are offered all year round. Materials such as exhibits and pamphlets are regularly changed to match the season. No matter when you visit, you'll find something to enjoy! In addition to providing information about nature, we are also available to assist any tourist or visitor in need of assistance (such as lost children or injured persons).

    Our guides can provide information, such as the condition of hiking trails and recommended spots. Maps containing information about the nature of the area are also available.
  • Craft corner
    Supplies such as wood cuttings and wood glue are provided so our guests can enjoy making simple crafts. Why don't you try making your own original coaster as a souvenir?
  • Lecture room
    You can view slide shows created by our guides at any time.

  • Model of the surrounding area
    You can view the local landforms and a cross-section of the limestone caves in 3D.
  • Exhibition panels
    Our guides display photos to match the season, such as images of the flowers that bloom on the hiking trails or the local animals.
  • Library
    Here, you can quickly look up any interesting plants and animals that you see.

• Events for the public
  Our guides conduct a variety of events, such as nature observations and hikes.
• Information services
  Our guides provide information about the surrounding area, such as the conditions of the hiking trails in the Okutama area and information about the nature that can be seen around the hiking routes. They can also provide advice tailored to each individual guest's skill level, such as recommended hiking courses and hiking safety advice.
• Guided walks
  Our guides can provided guided walks, including explanations of the surrounding nature, in scenic spots such the Hikawa Valley or the Toke Orchards. This service is available only to large groups and requires an advance reservation.
• Slide shows
  Our guides regularly offer slide shows about nature by using materials such as multi-slide presentations and handmade slides.
• Instruction for nature experience programs
  Our guides offer instruction to the leaders of school groups or other local groups, to help them plan programs to meet their needs.
• Explanations of surveys and exhibits
  Our guides conduct surveys of local wildlife and provide the information to visitors. They also provide hiking information acquired from visitors.

The Okutama Visitor Center serves as a base for park volunteers. Volunteers clean and beautify the parks, and carry out planning and management activities for events such as nature classes.
